Do anyone have any experience of LPG installations on Turbo Diesel engines
Cheers Andy
-
not personally but it gets rid o the black smoke & gives up to another 100bhp,pretty much like Nos on a petrol, there was a guy in my club with a 3 litre TD mazda engine 110 & it would pull away from V8's no problems

Have you tried Allisport? I think they were researching something like that

Yep there is a bit in LRO this month on duel fuels and Allisport

Cheers Bill i'll look out for that

I saw the Alisport kit on e'bay. Thought it was a bit overpriced considering it's a diy fit and you still have to source a gas tank.
-
I had a quick look at the link you sent this morning in the office, didn't realise it was without tank tho.
Wonder what the payback period is like or is it one of those dependent upon how lead footed you are, eh eh?!!

If memory serves correctly, you don't use LPG instead of diesel but in conjunction with it, you can't run your engine on just gas, as far as I'm aware anyway.
No doubt someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

It is injected with the diesel as a method of upping power, a bit like nitrous oxide as redline mike said. Therefore it would cost more to run not less.
-
The gas is used as a catalyst to provide a more efficient burn of the diesel increasing the power levels.
I understand the gas used is a fraction of what would be used if it was a petrol running on lpg.
Would still be interesting to see some kind of payback figures or running cost comparisons for standard engine set up against lpg diesel engine.

That really depends on how you use the extra tourque, if you use it wisely you can see a massive increase in MPG which offsets the cost of LPG if on the other hand you play traffic light grand prix then it hurts your pocket a lot. I looked into it last yr and decided that my engine was not suitablle IMHO as it had quite a few miles on and the extra squirt of LPG may affect it.

Who cares about running costs :?: :?: :?:
It's more power that's needed :(biggrin): :(biggrin): :(contented):

thers a guy up here with the LPG & diesel disco & is considering doing comps with it,tlking to him he gets 60 ish miles from 20 litres o LPG when using full bore full boost n fuel
-
I only want it to satisfy the hooligan in me :(biggrin): :(shades):
-
i think it is about 80% 20% diesel LPG mix
try this site for info http://www.iwemalpg.com/Diesel_LPG.htm
it seems you can tweek it for economy or power

i looked into this a while ago, http://www.tinleytech.co.ukdo kits for both NA and turbo diesels
