Title: MPi fuel consumption
Post by: dave_2A_2.25Turbo on January 31, 2006, 01:45:58
Can anyone give me an idea of the fuel consumption on an early MPi?  And what sort of mileages are these engines good for?

By the way I have one for sale!!!

But I can get about 27mpg most of the time. The engine will should do at least 200,000 miles if looked after. If it needs replacing then there are lots about in rover cars, its a T16 engine. The other thing that is irffrant is the gear box I was told its a RT77, because the centre diff is not the same.

Mine was worse than a V8 but then I discovered a broken fuel line.  Still not back yet.  Waiting for 1x fuel pipe from Land Rover Dealership.

Some parts for the Mpi are hard to get hold of.

Before the leak I reckon I was getting about the same as Paul.  Mine pulls the caravan without problem and has never let me down whilst not on the tarmac.  Have to agree tho, the engines do need pampering.

mmm....food for thought.

I've now heard of an early V8 on LPG that could be mine for a quite reasonable sum........
