we have a problem with our central locking on classic range rover;when you press alarm fob,door locks then opens again\if u try to lock with key drivers side it unlocks itself again! But works ok from passenger side?have changed door actuators but no different.....this is doing my head in and i would be grateful for some help or advice please.Could it be the alarm?? :twisted:

The only thing that springs to mind is the Central Locking ECU gone if the actuator has been changed. :?

mine sometimes does this if the tailgate or bonnet isnt completly closed.

come on then being told there is no ecu on my model its a 1993 classic on a k plate 3.9 autobiography 4 door. there is a clicking from steering column, is this the ecu i should not have. :oops: if you ask me craddocks talking crap again i only want my doors to lock :!: can any one help

Right, just looked it up in the Haynes Manual and in section 13.112 under the heading Central door locking system control unit (1990-on models) removal and refitting it says:
"173The central door locking system is now activated from both driver's and passenger's doors, and an activator is located in both front doors. The electronic control unit is located on the steering column support bracket.
174 Disconnect the battery negative lead.
175 Remove the lower facia panel.
176 Disconnect the wiring multi plug.
177 Unscrew the mounting screws and remove the control unit from the steering column support bracket.
178 Refitting is a reversal of the removal procedure."
According to the wiring diagram there should be 12 connection points on the ECU but only 9 are used.
From left to right, as it is on the diagram, the wire colours and terminal numbers, marked with (), should be as follows:
Yellow/Orange (4)
Yellow/Orange (6)
White (3) - Connected to Fuse A5
Red/Pink (1)
Spare (5)
Red/Pink (2)
Orange (7)
Pink (8)
Brown/Pink (9) - Connected to Fuse C7
Spare (10)
Earth (11)
Spare (12)

have stripped it down,both doors,and under panel,fault seems to be in ecu.Works off paseneger door but presume right hand side drivers door is worn out.from constant use on that side.Have ordered parts will let you all know what happens,so watch this space! :? 8)
