It seems ages since you had the poll for what colour to paint it.... so I'd forgotten you were doing it.
It looks great though :D
Can we have another piccy when you done the other bits [-o<

dont bring it to Blackpool
there are a number of hotels, with multicoloured flags outside
they tend to be (very) gay friendly and i would hate the 101 to be confused with a gay bourdello (you could do (gay) weddings) :(biglaugh): :(biglaugh): :(biglaugh): :(biglaugh): :(biglaugh): :(biglaugh): :(biglaugh):

Well that's going to be an entertaining V5 ;-)
-
it needs a windows logo :)

But that would be the kiss of death

-
WOW
All I can say, it's differant.
-
So, it wasn't enough us talking about the fact that you actually had a 6x6 101, you had to go and make it even more obvious. You are not going to lose that in a car park are you?
I still need to do the rollcage and roof, and I'm going to paint the grille red, but here you go...
Don't forget to do the wheels as well . . . . .
O.M.G.
My thoughts precisely
-
I thought the bloody neighbours might actually like it, but inexplicably, they don't seem to share my taste in colours.
Don't forget to do the wheels as well . . . . .
Gotta fix the leaky hubs first!
-
they don't seem to share my taste in colours.
You've just about catered for everyones taste in colours..... everyone should like at least one panel
-
It's er..........
Well..........
Er.........

It looks like you were playing with photoshop and got carried away

Feck !, a Harlequin 101 !!!!! - certainly looks different, a little less 'imposing' maybe :D
Just out of interest, what colour do you put on the V5 ? :?
Jim
-
I think you're supposed to put the "dominant" colour - so probably Red, but I'll seek advice from the DVLA!
-

Dave... you need a shrink
I've always wondered what a mid life crisis may throw my way...... now I'm very very afraid
Still no danger of our trucks being confused from the front profile any more.

Beat me to it, there use to be one of those on the lane from where we used to live.
Lovely solid little cars, the Polo, but it's a damn awful colour scheme
-
Nonononononononononononono

-
Nice one! :D
You need to paint the wheels too though! - theyre letting it down!
Did you do any/much surface prep before painting? and what sort of paint did you use?
-
I used spirit and xylene based vehicle paints from The Paint Man (Bill, the guy who does a lot of the shows). Preparation involved a good clean down with the jetwasher, although I did prime a couple of areas where the original paint was flaking off. (The idea of sanding it all down to the bare metal was not very appealing...)
The finish with the roller was OK, but the finish with the brush is not exactly showroom. However, it's not the kind of vehicle where I'm really too worried about a couple of runs here and there.
The wheels will be painted as soon as I can stop the hubs leaking for long enough. I painted the front grille red last night, which looks good.
-
o.m.g. I am speechless. My favourite mud-club vehicle and been gaffiti'd on :'(
I guess its one mud-club member who none of us are going to drive past without knowing exactly who it was :)
I have to say tho, who's doing there's next ?
-
By the way, I should point out that the colour scheme was really down to Reaper's idea! So thanks, Reaper!
I can't wait to see what the 101 club think... The rivet counters will be sending me death threats
-
I think you'll be banished to somewhere like Iceland when they see it David.
Now that's a reason to do it that way :)
I overheard a quite vociferous argument at one of the shows about Grumble and Tigger.
They'll see yours and have a dickey fit.
Someone's posted a link to a picture on UKLRO Wait for the flack
-
does it come with a pair of sunglasses lol
-
Youre missing some great fun stripping a 101 down to bare metal
The wheels will be painted as soon as I can stop the hubs leaking for long enough. I painted the front grille red last night, which looks good.
I've started doing the wheels on mine black to make the oil leaks less obvious. I've also attempted to make them seal and then slapped a couple of layers of paint over the whole hub - so the paint might keep the oil in too
I'm a supporter of the multicolour 101 brigade :D

Nurse..... Nurse....
Mad as a fish!
Tom you shift that Saab? No excuses now!
-
I have to say tho, who's doing there's next ?
No sirey bob! Took me 2 years to strip it last time, and to be fair Mum did 3/4's while I restored JLO for my sis.
Still Dave , on the bright side.. next event you go to can I park next to you? Take the rivet counters eyes off the gutted prototype
-
I like the look of JLO, but I cant afford at the moment :(
-
Tom you shift that Saab? No excuses now!
I'm getting there!....
-
thats brilliant mate, fair play to you
-
Love it! Well done that man.
-
I think you'll be banished to somewhere like Iceland when they see it David.
But we will still be able to see it from here :(biglaugh):

My wife wants to know why you've stopped taking the tablets :?:
-
Nice one! :D

Spirals would look on them
-
I tried spirals on a Morris Minor van once. They didn't work too well. The wheel centres need to be flat to work properly...... sorry, was I taking the suggestion a little too seriously??
The Minor van was painted top half sky blue, bottom half grass green. And then a fortune was spent on Humbrol enamel tins to paint flowers, trees, birds, butterflies, etc... It had the rear view of an elephant on the back with a mouse sat next to it!
In the end, the paint that was left over was all dumped in one pot and it came out a salmon pink.... we used that on the wheels  So how about do that? Mix all that's left over for the wheels? 8)
-
Spirals would look on them
You've not seen my painting, have you?
-
:D get it muddy then you wont see that you couldnt decide which colour to paint it :D
-
Dave! What have you Done? Its Sacrilage?
(Please if you decide to come tomorrow evening Bring the Disco!)
-
Blimey, 8 hours out there today, and only 1 10 minute break for a cuppa... I forgot I could actually work quite hard!
I think it's pretty much painted now - did the rollcage today and touched up the colours. There's a lot of cage... I need to finish priming the roof and paint it, but I'm out of primer, and it won't actually take that long because it's large and flat - the roller will do a treat.
But it's looking good - well I think so, anyway. I'll post another pic next time it's daylight.
-
Arrgh Does it have a volume control?
:(mad): :(bloodshot): :(bigcry):
