Did anyone else watch this wonderful display of awesome driving?
100mph+ in the snow & ice through the forests
And to think, the total contact area of all the tyre-studs used is only about the same as 2 £1.00 coins :(bigshock): :(scared): :(bigshock): :(scared):
Stuff poncy f**tballers & their whinging, there's more bravery, skill & sheer belief in yourself (& the car) than in any dozen f**tballers
It's one of the more spectacular events (Australia is better :? )
Some big spills as well, nice to see young Wilson doing so well in his first year of WRC
Marcus Gronholm won again he won the Monte Carlo in January as well

I have great respect for the Rally drivers, doing the speeds they do through lanes no wider than the car and they don't back off. I get scared on the PS2 at times, so it takes balls of steel.
-
I watched the last half of it.
It was nice to see the Saxo drivers battling it out for third place, changing positions at the end of some of the stages.

:D driving fast with pace notes is good fun but dont like tracks with concreate telegraph poles like they have in france :(

Or concrete tank-blocks like on the Army ranges used in Germany.
Was it Tommi Makkinen who hit one of those a few years ago??

I think they ought have a special stage at Bathurst & do a few laps against the big Holdens & Fords.
Now that would be interesting!

Sadly not..........

alot of little technical incidents like drivers not wearing their balaclavas, but the most spectacular moment was a ford loosing it on turn 2 as they head up into the mountain cliping the wall sheding a wheel which bounced up in the air and landed top center of the following holdens windscreen. the struck holden finished the race but had to pit a couple of laps later to have its front and rear windscreens cut out.

Recall Tommi Makinen smashing a wheel against a concrete bollard at Millbrook on Rally GB a few years back...skidded on some oil left by a historic rally car which had done the stage previously
Policeman who stopped Tommi on the road section said the biggest problem was not explaining to him he couldn't drive further but catching him up

That was probably the incident I mean :? (age is getting the better of me)
Yes, he was 'going some' to get to service
But don't the German ranges also have blocks??
-
Not certain but I think so...

'Twas a good race the B24, But right at the end when Ambrose and whatshisname came together and blocked the track, that was dramatic.
Sadly no more Ambrose in V8 Supercars which is a shame.
