Title: Defender Exhaust Modification?
Post by: Robbiellewellyn on February 07, 2006, 12:15:22
Hi, i am thinking of modding my exhaust somewhat so that it comes out in front of the passenger side rear wheel. I have seen it done before and i liked the sound/look of it. Can anyone give me some advice on how to do it, and if any major modification is needed. A photo of someone's under belly of there Defender would be nice so i could see what i have to do. Thanks in advance.
Rob

You may want to have a word with Gwyn Lewis (http://www.gwynlewis4x4.co.uk/page10.html) as he make a side exit exhaust for a 90.

The biggest problem with this is vibration through the bodywork, which is bad enough as it is but with an exhaust itll be horrendous.

The other problem, certainly with the link above is look at the angle - youll find it pools water because the exit point up, and this will rot the exhaust and silcencer, even stainless rots out eventually (especially lower grades.)

I would prefer one that comes out of the rear quarter.
