i have worked out how to fit a 36"wheel with tyre onto a standard disco spare wheel carrier on the back door.
with no welding or mods!!
-
Lose the bumper?
-
Bolt it onto a roof rack?
I remember there being a device which fastens on to the carrier and has a set of raised studs on it to mount the wheel higher up. No idea where I saw it though
-
turn it round, back to front?
put wheel nuts on the studs to act as collars?
ok... I give up!

I bought a Devon 4x4 raised carrier.
Easy.
:D
What did you do Mike?
-
let the tyre down?
-
You stuck the spare in the boot?

Easy.
That's what I did. :D
I managed to enlarge the holes on the OE carrier enough to get my 33" tyre on but I think there is space to re-drill the holes to allow the carrier to sit further up the door.
