Post by: Berliner Beer on February 09, 2006, 08:22:47
Just wanted to tank everyone who helped me out when green laning on sat. We were driving in a small convoy when my power steering stopped and the battery light came. we pulled over and diagnosed a fan belt slipped off. On closer inspection by the mud clubbers the belt tensioner was F*****. So it looked like a long tow home from the RAC........NO! 1 phone call and a 6 min wait and Dave landy appeared on the horizon with a temp replacement! THANK YOU! Yet again the Mud club and its members saved the day. Thank you to turtle for the knowledge of every registered member where they live and what spares thay might have. Aunt nelly for the pick axe handle that put the belt back on (DONT ASK). also thanks to old joe for various tools and road closures neded to recover me! Getting a new tensioner today so will be ready for the next breakdown! Thanks to ROGERS OF BEDFORD for not noticing the tensioner was [!Expletive Deleted!] when replacing my alternator a few weeks ago Grrrrrrrrh. MUD CLUB 10 out of 10 :D

Well the tales of woe continue as does the list of people to thank for helping me out. Took the Bav mobile to Bow Brickhill woods when I could hear a sound similar to going over gravel. Poped the bonnet to find the fan belt in shreads. Old Joe (THANK YOU) collected me and the 2 kids and took me to Partco Autoparts to get a new belt. Got back to the Land Rover and discovered the tensioner had come loose! It seems the thread on the bolt has knackered the tread in the engine block. One more phone call and MACE comes to the rescue. Some how mace and old joe managed to get a second bolt on and hold the tensioner together. Thanks again guys! NO wait it gets worse........................This morning I tried to start her up and it doesn't! it turns but doesn't fire....... now what? I`m thinking glow plugs? Anyone else have any suggestions....I'm really geting fed up ....................I know....................it's a landrover! Got it booked in to JOE EDWARDS.....gunna need to re mortgage i think!
