Title: Wheel Size - will they fit on my Disco
Post by: robbie on February 14, 2006, 17:41:50: Will I be able to get 7.50's on the Disco without any problems??

I got them on Sunday attahced ot some wheels I purchased, but they look so chunky that I want to try them out this weekend. I havent lifted or anything so dont know if they will catch on the arches at all.

Post by: Range Rover Blues on February 14, 2006, 20:04:14: BTW the Camel cut is just the same as a factory RRC. I've got 235/85 on the blue one and it's liftes 2", still a very snug fit.

Post by: Dave on February 14, 2006, 20:16:59: If you have them on land rover steel wheels, they may be in enough to clear the arch worth a try before you sell. I have 750/16 on a series 3 and there slimmer than 235/85 think it depends on tyre and tread pattern.

7.50 16 has the same rolling radius as a 235 85 16 give or take but they are narrower.

Kev Hobbit tried 7.50 16 on his Disco and had to a lot more than just a Camel cut with no lift.

Post by: Frankie-Boy on February 14, 2006, 21:25:07: I had 750x16's on my disco without a lift and only had to remove a tiny bit from the back of the arch, it took 2 seconds to do and there is no visible signs of it from outside at all, mine were Goodyear G90's on LR rims.

Post by: robbie on February 14, 2006, 21:48:41: I am going to try them, they are in the tyre place at the mo to make sure they hold air, otherwise they aint worth a jot anyway ;)

If they dont fit, then they'll be on here for offer. At least I will know they are airtight :)

Thanks for the advice, I will let you know if they seem OK or not. i might even take some piccies if I remember

Post by: robbie on February 14, 2006, 22:46:18: these are on standard offset Disco steels. I did buy some wheels last year that had a wider offset and the Colway's were ripped apart by the arches on 235/70/16'sw so I understand the implications quite well ;)

I am hoping they fit OK, but if not I dont really mind. It was the wheels I bought them for, not really the tyres as I have some MTR's coming in a few weeks anyway, I just hope these do in the meanwhile

My springs were low anyway on the back, with the extra weight on the extension, after fittin new heavy duty springs, still down, so put 2" spacers on, finally the front and the rear are level, so dont know if they would drop in now.

But still looking at fitting the modulars off the hybrid onto the disco, i think they may fit now

205/80-16: Stock size in many other countries. same height as 235/70-16.

255/65-16: same height as stock

225/75-16: little taller than stock

245/70-16: little taller and wider than the stock size. reportedly, no need for lift, just minor trimming to fit those tires.

245/75-16: popular size for OME suspension lifted vehicles. require slight trimming on the rear wheel well fender, and may also call for adjustment on the steering bumpstops.

215/85-16: same height as 245/75-16. but narrower. seems to be preferred for the snow and mud.

265/70-16: about as tall as 245/75-16, but wider. will require more trimming and steering bump stops adjustments along with taller bump stops over the rear axle.

265/75-16: almost 32" tall. Same as stock NAS D90 tires. Will require even more trimming.

235/85-16: same height as 265/75-16 but narrower. And seems to be the most popular size with OME lift.

255/85-16: about 33" tall...very few people have fitted this size. Lots of butchering for this one.

285/75-16: about 33" also... but very very wide.
