Thanks to Dave in the a.f.l. newsgroup for this link, it's worth a look and should not be mistaken with responsible off roading ever
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=3997304738377042391&q=land+rover
Title edited to reflect the gravity of this type of driving.

:) Yep this link did the rounds on LROi a while back it is
a really superbe bit of "propper" off roading
highly recomended bit of video :)
-
I dont think that should really be shown or linked under the topic of greenlaning. hehe

 yea i can see how it would seem a little challenging
to the part timers and plastic offroaders on here

plus if a lane is *that* bad you shouldnt be there

 Yes but this is laneing russian style where the terrain
is tougher than the vehicles the only ramblers are cattle
and tree hugging eco geeks get locked up or shot :)
Of corse one wouldent dream of driving any lanes
in the uk in anything like that condition.
And you can only chuck a rambler over a hedge when thretend
with with his stick
Ah bliss

Its part of the Ladoga trophy. I have 2 of them on dvd, they are well and truly barking!! Not quite a laning trip though, there is a 110 on portals that must be 6ft tall...at the bonnet!
-
Quality video! I particularly like the last flick of the wipers just before it goes under and they start swimming!
Mad b*stards...
-
Thats a good reason why you should check how deep something is before you drive through it.
I also liked it how the wipers came on just before it goes under and then the driver and passenger pop out of the window and start treading water :)

Laughter regardless, you've got a really good point. :-k
Whilst it is an interesting bit of video for a whole host of reasons, I'm not comfortable with having it linked to greenlaning (even tongue in cheek).
The antis just love a game of 'trial by context'.
But it is a fascinatin' and educational watch*!
cheers

*Offroading basics #1: check depth before driving in!

Did this at Briercliff prior to nearly hydrolicing my v8.....
H- **rolls down window and shouts accross to Jim-Willy**

Seen it done on too many occasions. Easily done though!
Interestingly, I've actually seen more hydraulics happen in fords hit at high speed, especially racing (including two at the last BORC event at Sweet Lamb).
.......and folk wonder why I want to snorkle the racer!
Hey, I want to know how long the co-driver must've been holding his breath, cos he wasn't the first one out!!
Wasn't a snorkle they wanted, it was gills!!
Talk about 'don't try this at home'!
cheers

Title Edited accordingly, you are of course correct. I forgot the Anti's have had a sense of humour bypass as part of the induction during the same procedure as the Lobotomy and removal of ear internals. The initial title was very very tongue in cheek. 8-[

mmmhhh, not sure if the mud would roll of my Disco in that terrain ;)
very entertaining video though. Maybe they dont have ramblers over there cos they use them under the wheels when stuck ;)

I posted this video last month:

I don't think it can be really mistaken for British greenlaning. The Russians have a HUGE wilderness to play in. Churning up a bit of mud is probably acceptable there in the grand scheme of things.

The Lagoda Trophy is just nuts!! I know ya average offroader has a few screws loose - well we must have! lol But these guys have a whole case loose!! Have got a couple of Lagoda DVD's, awesome motors!!
would be fantastic to have a bash - though very very knackering!! No wimps allowed in that game!
-
So where are folks getting the DVDs from? They could provide several hours entertainment, I feel.
cheers

Where do you get these DVD's? Check ebay and amazon, but nothing. I'd love to see more of these events.
-

Buy folk, I guess you mean me....
And despite losing a class win on the Hillrally, by swallowing water I still do not intend to fit a snorkle!
Do have another plan though! :D
