OK more help required.
The wife has been complaining (not uncommon) about the disco running on after the ignition is switched off. I’d not experienced this until today when I pulled into a garage and turned it off. The engine just kept running as normal with the key completely out of the ignition. I’d been driving with my lights on and when I switched them off the engine stopped.
The wife thinks the car is haunted  . Any other suggestions would be appreciated. :?

Stop solenoid is stuck in the on position.
I had it with mine.

Well my 200tdi.
It defaults to off with no power from the ignition. Mine was stuck and the only way to stop it was to stall the engine. I was in Scotland at the time but managed to repair at the side of the road. Well caravan really.

The Td5 doesn't have a 'stop solenoid' as there's no mechanical pump like the Tdi's.
This is a good one, as the ECU should shut the engine down immediatly.
The only thing I can think of is that somemone's fitted an electronic 'turbo guard' lubrication system, which runs the engine at idle for a few seconds prior to shutting down. Does it only only do this if you switch off after using the accelerator? How about if you let the engine idle for a while before switching off? :?:
If this isn't the case, I'd get it looked at by someone with access to a diagnostic system soonest.

I’ve been driving the car all weekend and not experienced the problem again (Regardless of how the engine is stopped). When it last happened, I’d been motorway driving for about two hours before trying to switch it off.
The car has been chipped and an intercooler has been fitted (don’t know if this makes any difference).
Still confused :?

Could it be something amiss with the ignition switch ?
When the 'event' occurs, does the truck continue to run normally with the key out of the ignition (as if you hadn't removed the key), or does it cough and splutter ?
My Td5 110 has a device fitted that allows me to push a button and then switch off and remove the ignition keys - but the engine keeps running (like the old bill traffic cars), if you touch the foot brake, clutch or hand brake the engine dies (so no little chav can thieve it !)

When it does happen it runs normally with the key completely out. :?
