We could stop all the 4x4 debates and all the other countryside problems with one simple law
BAN the Bobble hat!
-

-
better of banning hiking boots
WHAT !!!! - I'de be lost without my trusty Scarpa hiking boots. And I'm pretty bald as well so I also wear a hat.
Ban walking in the countryside I say
-
I wear a wooly hat for work as its cold out at the mo.
I say ban hiking / walking down byways then they will have nothing to complain about. Well they will but it will be coz they cant walk down byways not coz were making "ruts"
-
nowt wrong with walking in the country side, i do a lot of it,
a no thats not just because i dont a 4WD
Its just the moaners that need baning...from everything.
Just living would be so much easier if people didn't moan at everything.
But moaning at the people who moan is OK

Your catching on quick young fella
Shame really but it seems to be a fact of life these days that no matter what you do there will some 'Anti' who wants a stop putting to it.
Trouble as I see it is that whatever it is they want stopping they are prepared to go out and raise public awareness of their problem and somehow seem to rallly support from the strangest of places. They also seem to be able to raise plenty of funds to finance their 'good doing' activities.
Live and let live I say - each to their own. There's plenty of space for all of us if the truth be known.

I Like my bobble hat!

Couldnt agree more. :D

What you need is a combination that simply cannot be moaned about....
How about inventing a 4x4 wheelchair? Or a 4x4 child buggy! Or how about a 4x4 bird watching hide? I defy them to moan about them!
Or maybe Thrasher needs to resticker Owl with 'Ban the bomb' and 'World Peace' stickers!
-
I saw a 4x4 whell chair on TV once.
A guy who broke his back climbing snowdon designed it and had it built then he went up snowdon on it.
It was amazing, the articulation put normal wheel chairs to shame
Maybe a fleet of them should drive through london :D

you know if they make simex in 155/60r13 :D
or i could lift it (about 2 feet) and put on 35"s
Now that would get the boy racers looking.

You just need to ban banning things! :!:

I like walking, I own several pairs of hiking boots (all in varying states of decay) and I have several hats - I too am slowly loosing my brain-box thermal insulation. I also teach my Explorer Scouts how to read maps, and how to walk safely - the fact that they would all rather go green laning is another matter 8)
What really gets me about the anti's (and its been said a million times already), is that there are hundreds of miles of footpaths and bridleways to walk on compared to the relatively small amount of RUPPs/BOATs available for us to drive on......if they dont want to meet a 4x4 - STAY OFF THE BYWAYS, its quite simple !!!

A bit on the Today programme today - interview between Craig Carey Clinch who represents the Motorcycle Industry Association and Ian Ritchie who chairs the Green Lanes protection group.
No real outcomes - to be expected - but it gave it another airing.
Listen again at the interview was at 6.52 http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/today/listenagain/index.shtml

Fitted a set of chains to SWMBO's combo van last winter and took it for a trip round the local fishing lakes on my baillif round.
Little white van went where the 4x4's feared to go
Where there's a will there's always a way fella - I wouldn't make a habit of pulling that stunt too often though - took me months to clean all the gunge of the poor little white van . . . . got a right proper lug chewing for it

So simple, so true, so why does it seem impossible to get it across to the narrow minded ... so n so's
