We are hitting 95p a litre in some areas now, soon we will be faced with paying £1 a litre.
But, whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can really work. Please read it and join in! Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a litre is Cheap, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that consumers control the market place not sellers. With the price of petrol going up more each day, we consumers need to take action. The only way we are going to see the price of petrol come down is if we hit someone in the pocket by not purchasing their Petrol! And we can do it, without hurting ourselves. Here's the idea:
For the rest of this year, DON'T purchase ANY petrol from the two biggest
oil companies (which now are one), ESSO and BP. If they are not
selling any petrol, they will be inclined to reduce their prices.
But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of Esso and BP
petrol buyers.
PLEASE HOLD OUT to arround 69p a LITRE It's easy to make this happen. Buy your petrol at Shell, Asda, Sainsburys, Jet etc. i.e. boycott BP and  Esso (Tesco).
POWER TO THE PEOPLE!!!
Cheers
Al.

You ever been to a refinery? You ever watched the tankers come out? If so you'd soon realise the above won't happen :-)
Petrol aint the expensive bit - it's the 80%+ tax you are paying in the pound.....
-
Oh no not again.....................
-
True but still, if no-one buys the big-wigs fuel then they will have to lower the consumer prices, therefore making that 80% you mentioned lower.
Al.
-
Um....define "the big wigs fuel" - it all comes from the same places. The sign on the tanker is the only difference......
It's a bit like gas and electricity.....if you think about it :-)
-
Oh no not again.....................

Just what i was thinking.
-
i feel a blockad coming on again
oh is that the time i must be off

Do a quick search (button marked "Search" above :) ) and you will find endless debate on this subject. The synopsis is, the idea doesn't work.
-
Is this the third or the forth time someone has posted this "idea" ?
Sorry Al but as Neil says, all the fuel comes from the same distribution points, no matter what stickers the tankers have on the side of them. There are some addatives that are put in to the tanker load to make them BP, Esso etc but that's it.
Anyways, up here the prices are 98.9p for unleaded and 102.5 for diesel so we're already over £1 per litre and have been for about six months now.
The only way to bring the price fuel down, again as Neil has already said, is for the tax on fuel to be reduced and that's about as likely as the Anti's being glad to see a 4x4 in the centre of London.

It would be good if it worked but imaginge just not using your mobile for a day or just not watching TV for a day as a protest against the licence fee.
the original idea sounds like its a practical protest - it went along the lines of not buying petrol from shell, texeco etc for one day but it really wouldnt make any difference
-
have your own private protest and run your tdi on red diesel
lots of people do
i used to run mine on heating oil when i lived in somerset
just like the locals did
you could even buy it at the petrol station
26p per litre

And get ready to wave it goodbye when HMCE come to take it away to be crushed into a tiny little cube :-(

Each to their own but.......
maybe not something you should be lettin everybody know about   :-$ :-$

<yawn>
Totallly no point, have seen this oooo many times and it wont work
For example stop buying esso and use Tesco
Tecso IS Esso Fuel
BP = Safeway
and so on.

I go to TESCO to get my fuel -Veg-oil at 30p a litre! I put 12 litres of oil
to 25 of Diesel, Tdi runs smoother and the veg oil is kinder to the motor
+ doing my bit for planet emmisions not even a third of Sulpher ridden Diesel,  8) 8)
Oh and its perfectly legal just get your Duty form from HMCE,
OIL be seeing you 8)
-
Just fit LPG, My fuel prices are half of what they were. Friend of mine travelled from Clacton on Sea, Essex to just north of manchester towing a trailier, cost £75 in LPG there and back.

LPG seems to be going up too though :(
Since i converted my car around 4 months ago its gone up by about 5-6p/litre round here
-
yes, its gone up from 35.9 a litre to 44.9 a litre here in the last year too, but still half the price of petrol.
I do see your point though.

Does the veg oil clog the injectors? I've been persuaded from doing it because of that fact.
