Title: Finally Back From MOT
Post by: landroverkeith on February 25, 2006, 13:29:06

well after many weeks away in the garage finally got a mot done on the old gal hmmm well 2 and a half sheets worth of problems  :?  i cant see it ever having a mot while i own it ...  which is a shame cos she drives lovely coming back from garage was a dream if a little cold lol..

so now ive got a choice do i keep her and just trailer her places to play or sell her and put the cash towards some discovery mods.

[!Expletive Deleted!]

and well i darn`t type the rest out cos its annoying after paying out for a starter motor for it only a day b4 mot grrrrrrrr

swmbo reckons i should keep it and rebuild i reckon i havnt the skill, time or pataince to do it.

Neither did I but took the plunge and did it 8)  just keep asking plenty of questions as it progresses - it can be done :D I'd only changed oil and filter until 12 months ago

Yep - twas ground up :D  Pics Here (http://members.mud-club.com/profiles/Andy%20the%20Landy/gallery/Rebuild) . Read a couple of restoration books, studied Haynes and Green Bible, got help from fellow Mud-Club members and asked loads of questions no matter how daft they may have seemed. Started last April and just about to go for MOT in next couple of weeks :D . Also learned how to swear evenmore than usual and now hold the record for the furthest flung spanner in history  [/url]

Cheers Mark :D  In terms of days spent its only taken just over a month maybe two at the most. Only been doing 1 day a week on it since end of April 2005 and a couple of hours here and there after work. Then ran out of 'project' money in December so only just being finished off now :D

Outer Mongolia will here the swearing and probably wear the 'thrown' spanners  . But dont despair when this happens - its perfectly normal. Good days are had along with bad days when nothing goes according to plan - you will think 'Why did I bother' , 'I must be mad'. Dont set a time limit, it doesnt work (not in my case anyway). Just take every step as it comes. It is a very STEEP learning curve, worth every minute in the end though  . Best of luck and dont forget to ask questions :D
