I saw Brian this morning & he now has custody of these Items (http://forums.mud-club.com/viewtopic.php?t=18754)
I think he'll be browing for a while before passing them on
He mentioned a trip out with a 'dissidant' (my words :wink: ) group of Series 2 owners above Rochdale, on a lane called;
'Cotton Famine Road'
Do you known of it, or anything about it?
-
Cheers BTM - I hope Brian remembers to pass them on  :D
Dont know about Cotton Famine Road (http://www.lancashire.gov.uk/environment/countryside/bridleways/bmtloop.asp) , cant remember if we've been on part of this on one of robbies days out  . I'll ask him

I dont know of a Cotton Famine Road :? Which town is it in?? The route criss crosses several areas we have been on previously.
We have certainly not had any series 2's with us today anyway. 1 x Series 3, 2 x 90, Discos, Rangies and 1 x Jimny, all split up into the appropriate groups and meeting at predesignated spots

Hi andy the landy, i've just been looking at your rebuild piccies in your gallery, and i spotted mucky kid's bobtail in the background. I just thought i'd say hi, he is obviously a mate of yours and it was him that told me about mud club. We work at the same company.

Nice one Defenderdan - not seen him since December. Are you coming to our pub meet with him and DPG in March :?:
-
Not sure about pub meets as i work shifts, evenings can be difficult. I'm only able to come one week in three so if the meet doesn't fall on one of those weeks i'm stuffed. I'll speak to him and find out if he's going. I know that his vehicle is off the road at the moment and his computer is knackered which is why he's not been on here for ages. I don't know who DPG is though (i don't think i do anyway). :D
I was interested in your rebuild because i'm completing one myself, it's nearly finished now.

we have been on parts of the Mary Townley route as it takes in parts of Rooley moor road, but most of it is pure bridleway so its a no can do, See if you can get grid refs BTM I'm Rochdale born and bred and have never heard of that lane, perhaps know it by another name.

I'll see him ASAP, but he didn't say when he was out with the S2 lot

Had email from Brian - part of the Cotton Famine Road is Rooley Moor, but if your going to drive it, be aware that the Rossendale Way to the left part way along may be Bridleway only - he's going to check on it and report back
-
Thats good then cos we dont take the left fork heading North, we go straight on which is (I understand) fine for vehicles. I don know the area you mean and will enause we stear clear wshen up there if it is proved to be bridleway only

The Cotton Famine Road is a lane (I think it's an ORPA) that is partially cobbled and goes across Rooley Moor near Rochdale.
from the maps, it seems that the cobbled road from Rochdale is called Rooley Moor Road. Maybe the Cotton Famine Road is the section at the fork to the left on the Ramsbottom side of the route.

Following on from 'Woodys' rat (http://forums.mud-club.com/viewtopic.php?t=17246) thread & your question about the Atki's at Millhouse Green, I remembered stopping & taking the picture below (must be my age  )
It was my mate with the Mines Rescue Atkinson (http://community.webshots.com/photo/355749979/1355816012047309372HLAzof) who told me about them after I had said where I got the 110 from
The precise location is Birks Avenue & Millhouse Lane (http://uk.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi?client=public&X=422500.403309051&Y=403500.173647342&width=500&height=300&gride=&gridn=&srec=0&coordsys=gb&db=&addr1=&addr2=&addr3=&pc=&advanced=&local=&localinfosel=&kw=&inmap=&table=&ovtype=&keepicon=&zm=0&scale=10000&downleft.x=4&downleft.y=1)
There's also the collection of Sankey cabbed Leylands ('pre' Marathon shape) at Denholme (between Halifax & Haworth on the A629) in a yard roughly here (http://uk.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi?client=public&X=407000.999999599&Y=433500.949848819&width=500&height=300&gride=406799.999999599&gridn=433599.949848819&srec=0&coordsys=gb&db=grid&addr1=&addr2=&addr3=&pc=&advanced=&local=&localinfosel=&kw=&inmap=&table=&ovtype=&keepicon=true&zm=1&scale=25000)

Looking at this section (http://forums.mud-club.com/posting.php?mode=quote&p=196662) of map, Frank Elson (the 'LRM' & 'Bolton Evening News' journalist) maybe a person to contact???
I'm pretty sure he lives in Cowpe & may know about it
I think his e-mail is; frank@lrm.co.uk
