Title: new battery
Post by: woody on March 01, 2006, 09:00:51
hi
i am needing a new battery for the Discovery
i have phoned around for a price and have been offered
70 amp hr 400 amp crank cycle (or something) £41 + vat
70 amp hr 600 amp crank cycle (or something) £43 + vat
i know for an extra £2 the 2nd one is better
but are there any other options
years a go i would have just got a wagon battery from work and made it fit

Loads of other options woody, just depends on how much you want to spend! Go for the 600 - its cold cranking amps btw. You can get optima / exide deep cycle ones but the are well over a ton!

I got a new battery for mine during Xmas and it was around £48 so the prices you have are not bad ;)

I got mine from Costco and it is a Bosch 70Ah

Them's good prices, go for the seond one, it'l prove useful when it gets really cold as batteries' internal resistance rises dramatically in the cold.

Tell me about it, spent an hour out in the snow yesterday swapping the Optima I use for the winch to the starter battery cos the cold up here has made the 5 year old starter battery have a "go-slow".   :(

Another Optima is on the cards in the next week me feels!!

Into the space where the jack normally goes.
It fits in there cos I've got the snorkle fitted and trumpet on the front of the airbox is removed and blanked off.

Thought so, bummer.  My Mantec snorkel inlet comes through the trumpet inlet so I can't stick it there. The only option I can think of is to re-locate the washer bottle, but to where ? !!!!!
