All of the above!

Why shouldn't they be used for the school run.

Our Lizzy loves the Qudos when Snorkly comes to pick her up from school. She's only 9 and loves the attention it gets from the other kids.

She even started talking to one of the supply teachers about his 110. He was gobsmacked  A girl in an inner city school knowing what a 110 is.

Proper education.

Mine is my 'van' for work.
Sometimes I go for a 'spin' in it.
Sometimes I might do a 'lane' or two.

The one thing I haven't done with it is take it to a playsite.

On my rare days off it's nice to do something different, so I park it up and use the car. You could say I spend more time in it than I do at home.

Yep... needs a few extra options...

- Anything I want it to be
- Learning how a car actually works
- Keeping on the road and being more environmentally friendly than most new car owners ;-)
- Keeping me out of trouble at weekends when I rebuild it for the umpteenth time

I agree - whatever you want.

I wonder if a lot of 4x4's on the school run are there because one parent takes the 2x4 to work, as they do lots of milage and it's the more environmentally option, leaving the other who does the school run, shopping, looking after the house etc the 4x4 for the short city runs? Would that not be sensible perhaps?

As for the 'you don't need the 4x4 for the school run', nope, but you do need it for the weekend when you load the entire family plus the dogs and granny in to go out and visit the country. So what do you do - but another car just for the school run? That helps the environment exactly how?

And given not ONE of my trains home from work has been on time the past month and I have to spend the time waiting on a cold platform with no shelter in rain/snow/sleet and I'm fed up of getting ear infections because of it (despite the beanie and hoody) how on earth do they think they are going to get people to give up their cars for public transport?

Grrrrr. Grrrrr. Grrrrr. Of to find a cuppa to help me relax...

my disco is for playing in mud, teaching myself meachanics, getting to work when it is snowing and the other car is off the road, towing my caravan and voluntary work trailer and being proud of being able to save up and buy a fantastic ENGLISH machine!

The only thing i can think of that it's no good at, is racing round track days at Doninton. Every thing else i think it has it covered.
