Title: OFF THE ROAD TV programme
Post by: bezzabsa on March 02, 2006, 19:53:37
Watched this this afternoon, all about off road trials - the things with 2wd's trying to get as far into a lane as possible....the idiots were churning up a green lane like only a tank could.foot to the floor and spinng the tyres. and WE the responsible 4x4's cop all the flak.. what made it worse was TONY MASON stood there like a prize pratt saying " and all of this is on road tyres and on a public road"
talk about adding fuel to the fire!!

sorry to Rant, but if someone saw a landy doing that.. god help us!!!!

I have seen alot of these. I think they were shot a long time ago. But your right in saying, fuel on the fire. As most people will assume it is done by 4x4's.

You got the bit right about Tony "[!expletive deleted!]" Mason too.

Off the road is on discovery real time extra now. I think the programme you refer to is on at midnight. It's a bit crap but it's not often you get anything to do with off roading on telly. I agree with your point about ripping lanes up though, it's just not necessary.

Watching one of those programs (with the Scammells and other military vehicles playing in a quarry) is what made me decide to get a Land Rover.

I'd always wanted one, but that was the final decider. After the program finished, I went straight and attacked e-bay. :D

The cars ripping up green lanes were participating in a classic trial, possibly the oldest established motor sport in the country with all events properly licensed and approved by the MSA.

yes , but do the 'anti 4x4 ' brigade know this when they complain about greenlanes and byways being ruined by motorised vehicles?

When we went laning on Sunday, we turned into one lane and there were seven road vehicles parked up. I can only assume they belong to ramblers as there was plenty around. Should I take their numbers and report them to GLASS if I see them again
