Title: OK - What was happening on May 24th last year ?
Post by: v8kenny on March 07, 2006, 21:23:11: My nose has got the better of me - at the bottom of the forum index it states that the most members online (181) at the same time was on Tuesday May the 24th last year - so what was happening ?

if loads of people are going log on and its not planned, then it will happen naturally ie if theres been a big event or whatever, but i think it would just be a bit of fun if we got the figuer up abit. no harm in it. :D

There were a fair number of members online, but as Gords mentioned earlier... the search engines have little bits of softwre called 'spiders' which visit websites, recording content for their indexes. These will show up in the users online (normally as guests)

In the situation where you get a few of the spiders indexing the site at once, you can get an artificially high number of visitors.

So, no.. there weren't 181 real people online I'm afraid
