Well the dreaded letter droped through the door. Money tight as ususal but with the budget fast approaching should I bite the bullet and buy a full 12 months tax or take a chance and buy 6 months.
-
Buy whatever you can afford at the time - buying 12 months now "just in case" only works once (if something does change in the budget), so don't worry about it.
I'd buy 12 months if you can as it's cheaper. If you can't afford 12, buy 6 months!
-
My view is the same, if you can buy it (12 months) do it, you win if it's increased in the budget, and you win because 2 x 6 months costs more than 1 x 12 months.
It's down to the cash in your pocket, you will have to pay 6 months (don't risk the SORN option as it would invalidate your insurance), can you stretch it without loosing out somewhere else?
-
I always buy 12 months even if i'm skint, it only costs more in the long run if you don't.
-
the mass have spoken... just look at the vote!
-
I try to spread the costs out, MOT, Insurance and 12 month Tax, putting them 4 months apart
-
In a similar manner, now internet banking is everywhere you could do what I've done and setup a 'savings' account e.g.
For road tax, open a seperate account (5 mins on internet) setup a monthly standing order of £10 (add another 2 minutes) and sit back and watch it mount up.
7 minutes effort, and a relatively un-noticed £10 a month, and when the tax reminder lands on your doormat there is £120 waiting to be used. :D
And the 5 minutes and 2 minutes are a guess before anyone gets a stopwatch out

Only drive Historic vehicles
-
Mines due this month and with the talk Im going for a 12 month option.
-
Now come on..... own up........ who voted to get rid of the LR and by a low emission small car??? Ah, unless it's a Zuke Jimny...... with a 4" lift and 35" mud terrains
-
If MOT is also due then I would say 6 months else 12 months. This way it spreads them out, just as someone else stated.
-
Buy 12 months if you can..........before the goverment increase it AGAIN for us 4x4 drivers
-
Blimey....12 months it is then. Thanks for the interest....made me smile !
-
i made sure I bought a 6month tax when I bought it in the first place along with insuracne and mot and now I buy 12 months tax ata time to offset it and never have to pay all 3 at once
-

You lucky git - I've just had three reminders for road tax drop through the letter box at the same time
All due at the end of this month - if I buy 3 x 12 months it will cost me £570 !
