Here's the scoop: I'll be heading to the UK for the ALRC National at the end of May along with Steve Hoare, the Stateside editor for LRM, and 2 other mates. We tried to get a LR press vehicle, no go. Now we are going to have to come up with an alternate transport, and really don't want to show up in a rented Grenada! :-& (do they still have those?)
SO - anyone know where we can rent, beg borrow or steal (figuaritively of course) a proper Land Rover for the event? Of course, ideally, it should have recovery points for the RTV
Steve and I both have valid UK drivers licences, BTW, and we plan on camping at the event.
If anybody can offer some advise PLEASE! IF not, I'll be bringing along several LR badges and trying to fit recovery points to whatever they rent us at the airport....

www.shb.co.uk

Try getting in touch with a lease hire company in the UK, tell them you want a demo for the weekend. May work May not

Got any names? :?
-
You can have my 2litre MPI
Certainly cant be done for speeding in it getting about 60mph tops at the moment :(
-
Very generous, Damo! Did an MPI ever go over 60?
It may not get over 40 by the time I add the 4 people and gear !!
-
I can get to 45 with the caravan on the back unless going downhill
Uphill I have to change to lowbox 2nd
-
That's not too unfamiliar - I drove a '67 Series 2A daily for over 5 years! After I added the parabolics and 33" tires it was even worse! (Great off-road though  )
Add a caravan or trailer to the back of it, and 45 was lucky!
Besides, as the saying goes, "You can go fast, but I can go anywhere!"
-
I have that on the top of the rear door, for that very purpose :)
-
:? HMMM couldn't get the attachment to work, so I added a pic to another gallery in my photos section - Check it out!
I once completed the last 3 sections of our RTV in that truck after the clutch hose burst in a very dramatic fashion - 1st low, hit the starter button and hold on!

  A man after my own heart, Damo!
I'll post some pics of our caravan in a few...

Yours. Hurt and Offended

 No offense meant! I tried to look for a pic in the gallery and couldn't find one! Often the older Rangies I see around here are pretty rotten.
Everyone's been very responsive to our plight, also! I submitted a quote request to SHB hire, so we'll see what they have to say. If Damo or Hissy or anyone seriously can help us out we'll make it up to you, also!
Is anyone else planning on going? Does every club have it's own area to camp? How about MC? Will there be any central area for MC?
-
:(bigshock): :(bigshock):
Have a couple of days away from the forum & what happens :?: :?:
Hissy offers out my beloved RRC.....
And lrmike ????
Do I need the badges to hold it together?

Oh man! That's in better shape than my Disco! I'm not sure I'd put up with him trying to lend it out like that!
Lovely Rangie
-
Have a word with Thrasher  I do believe there's a Discovery sitting on his drive begging to be used.
-
:-k Hmmmm.... Seems like everyone here is keen to offer up their mates ride.. Nice to know who your friends are, isn't it!
-
I'm not kidding check out the specs http://members.mud-club.com/profiles/thrasher/vehicle/
-
:(bigsmile): OOOHHHH!!! Now that is my kinda truck! The specs remind me of mine, but gone just that insane bit more! Do you think he would?!? [-o<
I'll PM him anyway, the worst is the answer'll be no! :D
