No nto around till late evening.

Also had to cut off a New Steering damper because the nylocs were jammed.  so much for a bargain Slider diff guard.

Just hoping someone will say you can leave the counter weight off.

They have something to do with anti vibrations.......if it helps.........i took mine off both the 200 and 300 disco's with no bad effects.

Try without, if it's all vibration free then you don't need it.

Mine went back on with the diff guards with a little fiddling, but it wasn't totally obvious.  I guess it depends on the design of the guard.

Ignorant question time:

Are we talking here about the steering damper?

Mine is shot (big hole in it so lost all fluid), and I have vibration - is fitting a new damper likely to cure it, or are we talking here about something different?

i think we,re talking about the harmonic damper on the front axle tim its the big heavy round thing on the drivers side, it gets in the way with some of the underbody protection stuff thats on offer so some people bin them

Well, I was talking about the harmonic mass damper, but if your steering damper is shot then that's very likely to cause the vibration problems;  easy to replace though.

Tim

I bought a De-carbon Damper from Paddocks about 3 months ago, it appears to only work in compression not sure if this is right.  Went to take it off last night and totally naquered it as i was unable to undo the Nyloc's.

Bought a Boge one today to get car running and this seems to work in compression and tension (Both ways in and out).  Not sure which is right but the Boge one makes more sense and would appear to have all the correct Bushes Washers etc.  :?
