whilst fitting some lights to a TD5 disco today the owner remarked that his TCS light and ABS light come on for no reason, i couldnt see why but in the fuse box in the engine bay fuse 2 a 15A that says its for engine management was blown, replacing the fuse it blows on start up everytime but the lights dont aleways come on?
any ideas? :?

if the TC & ABS lights come along along with HD then a sensor has thrown a wobbly in the system,if its poping the fuse but not bringing the lights on all the time id say get it plugged in to see whats happening within the system

it seems to be one of those joyous intermittent faults, its been into a dealer twice now to no avail but the lights still come on when driving :?

 Hi Neal, I would have alook at the wiring harness for the ingress of oil into and on any of the connections. This can disrupt the signals given to the ECU and cause all sorts of problems. Will need to replace the harness that has been effected, hopefully not the ECU as well. Bazz.

I had the old ABS HD & TC lights problem. Ended up needing a new front hub £208 + fitting :(

been there done that and got the tshirt. one poss fix is to cable tie round the connection just to the right of the abs block. sorry I aint got no pics but this has been know to come loose and cause the fualt to appear. though it usually stays on as its one of the annoying faults that wont clear unless its on diagnostics.
p.s. you can buy just the sensors - istr that they are around 58quid I know one of the dealers in EDi keeps a stock of them on the shelf.

DUFF WHEEL BEARINGS OR BREARINGS SHOWING SIGNS OF WEAR.
THAT WAS THE PROBLEM ON MINE,
CAUSING A THE SENSOR TO FLAG AN ERROR.
YOU CAN BUY THE WHEEL BEARINGS SEPARATELY FROM LANDROVER NOW, BUT GIVEN THE SIZE YOU WON'T BE CHANGING ONE WITHOUT A BIG PRESS.
208 QUID FOR THE HUB IS THE EASY FIX

ever seen a caliper piston squished flat??
i have trying to get a bearing out a P38 hub (same idea as the disco 2) using a 90 ton press, didnt even moove

Thanks for all the suggestions on this problem i heard from the guy yesterday that he has not had the problem anymore since pushing all the plugs in the ABS loom together firmly, one in particular needed "clicking" back together, so it would seem that may have been the cause of the fuse blowing and the lights on the dash coming on :D
