Title: daihatsu fourtrak gearbox problem

i have a fourtrak rocky 1988 2.8 n/a. i cant change from 3rd to 2nd only stationry and 5th gear has gone.i was told that the main shaft nut i known to come loose and prevents it from changeing down so i need to know how to sort that out.and 5th gear the link arm comes unhitched so i would like to know how to sort that out.funds are low so replacement gearbox is out the question.any suddgestions would be helpfull  :D

Turbonuts, try posting your question in the "modified vehicle" section. Youve more chance of a mechanic veiwing it there. :D

used to own a fourtrack, great car. Really good at towing and off road.
lost second gear (going round a busy roundabout while towing a heavy livestock trailer) and had the gearbox reconditioned. never was the same again.

how much did it cost u mate to get it reconditioned as i cant find anotherone anywhere

there is a fourtrak gearbox for sale in admag 07971069113 worth a try :)

best to pull the gearbox out and strip it down to see wots out of place of loose ect

£300 for the reconditioning about 4 or 5 years ago.
