Title: timming belt
Post by: woody on March 16, 2006, 16:07:38
Ok i have just phoned the garage that used to service (last three stamps) my discovery
and they have said that they have never done a timming belt on it
at what intervals/milage should the belt be changed
and is it easy to check the belt or is it a major job and i may as well change the belt as check it

Not having any history with the Disco when I got it I had the timing belt changed as a matter of course. That was at 115000 miles.
It's now on 166500 miles and I will be getting it done again this year.

I think the Land Rover recommended period is 90k miles but I'm doing mine at 60k miles to be on the safe side.
When I got it done last time I got all the parts and just got the garage to fit them, only cost me about £70-100!!  :D

Off the top of my head I think 60,000 miles is the figure, please correct if wrong, but that is what I have been going by
