This might give you some ideas: www.bounty.com/babynames
-
Thanks for that its helps
-
what i found is that you and the missus buy a book or two of babynames, then sit independently and list suitable names for both sexes, then get together with the list and see if you have common ones.
also something i was weary of is to make sure the name isnt going to cause your child grief when they grow up.
when i walked through town i heard something like porsche for a girl and i heard mercedes
maybe in LA or NY they may suit but not chorley! ;)

16 years?????? Are you kidding........my eldest is 16 now and staying at school and possibly going to college/uni locally after that so we are looking at more like 22 maybe 23 years of hell :o
But enough of scaring you......congrats to you both :D And dont worry about names too much....you may find when the baby is born that it doesn't suit what you picked!!

16-years, and some, my two daughters (21 and 25) have both just had daughters (3-months and 14-months) and the cycle is starting again, even when the first cycle hasn't even finished.
Congrates anyway.
Regarding a name, I'd suggest, You little [PooPoo], saves confusing them as they grow up....

My eldest son is called Damian James
My eldest daughter is called Jessie Anne
The youngest is called Xana Polly
The one thats older than Xana but younger than Jessie is called Sparkle Daisy

Hi,
be thankful you only have to find one name - i had twins!!!!
finding a name that
1 - can't be shortened into something potentially offensive
2 - won't cause amusement (in australia there is a drink called milo, as was one of the girl's best friends when we lived there)
3 - does not spell a rude word with initials or clash with surname
4- cannot be messed with ( bridget richards was a suggestion by one of our friends for their daughter - hubby turned this into rigid britches - daughter was called Luisa instead)
5 - is acceptable to both parents (and family)
etc etc
is a near impossible task.
We ended up with Lauren (as in Bacall) and Jodie (as in Foster). This nearly fit with above requirements - Lauren has managed to shorten Jodie to Jodes but at least this does not cause offense to Jodie!!!
we knew we were having girls so we only had to find female names.
On a end note - when people asked what names we had selected (before they were born) we answered Lucretia and Jezebel - most people were not sure if we were joking or not!!!
Have lots of fun picking names!!
regards
ela

I have a car reg she might like then  :)
When our first ws due, we spent ages generating a list of boys and girls names.
3 weeks after being born we finally decided on Robert (Bertie to his friends) ... which wasn't on the list
For the other two, we waited until they were born and then thought about names :D

Don't do a Bob Geldof / Paula Yates and call 'em summat like 'tiger lily' or 'fifi trixibelle', cos it sounds like a dog's name, and they will hate you forever. If you have an 'interesting' name for them in mind, give them 2 names - my second name is Anastasia (pronounced Anastarzia, the russian way). I had a boring old middle name, so when I changed the surname when my Mum got remarried, the boring old 'Ann' got booted out (sorry to all of you Anns out there), and the quirky russian name came in. Those of you who know me will know exatly why!!
Don't call them something from Lord of the Rings (unless you're a really really big fan), as in 20 years there will be a host of Arwens and Aragorns and Legolases at uni, like there's a rash of Kylies now.
BTW, my name Julie Anastasia actually means 'Youthful Prayer'. You could go for something like that, with 'hidden' meaning.
-
weve always liked cameron or bethan (i also like meghan and hannah but there stories of old!)
wife works in a school and im in a hospital, so most kids names conjour up images of somone elses kids and behaviour.
like most have said check what names can be shortened to and if youd actually want to be called it, most of all
CONGRATULATIONS and GOOD LUCK
-
thankyou to all who have posted as there are a few names there but we have to find a unique name ..
cheers

Why don't you have a look at Greek, Roman and Norse mythology?
Some interesting ones are Juno, Ulric, Freya etc. If they're good enough for gods/godesses, surely there's something there that will suit 'bump'!

we are expecting a baby soon not sure what sex yet but if anyone has any ideas of some different names that are not common please submit them so we have an idea..... Please ......
rio
oh yer and congrats to u sir

We called our son Edward after my great uncle and instead of shortening it to Ed or Eddie we used the old fashioned version, which my great uncle was also known as which is Ned. We just wanted to be different, but with their being a Ned in the Koala Brothers (kids programme for those who don't know) and in Neighbours it might become a bit more used.
http://www.parenthoodweb.com/babiesnames.html is a nice site I get my cats names from there. They are Norwegian Forest cats and all have Scandinavian names. The girls are Inga and Nissa and the boy is Lars.
