In "Haynes" it says use 90 in the transferbox & in the workshop manuel it says use ATF.
I presume the w/shop manuel is right but would loke some other peoples opinions.
It's service time again-Spring is coming :D :D --Cogs

I will stand corrected, but all the transfer boxes I have done were 90
The gearboxes are atf though, could that be what it means?
-
Thats what I have always thought as well Hobbit but With Haynes saying ATF I thought it best to check & get the opinion of some people who have serviced recently.--Thanks--Cogs
-
gearbox is ATF & T box is EP90
for a smoother change use dex 3 ATF which is slightly dearer
-
does include manuel boxes aswell ???
-
depends on what manual box
the LT77 5 speed takes ATF but the 4speed takes engine oil
-
ahhh mine is a 4 speed so i presume a lt95 which is the best engine to put in her
cheers

hiya cogs, yours will have a borg warner transfer box.these should only use ATF . hope this helps.
-
Forkarm is right, only the RRC got the B-W box so not as many people are aware of that fact. I used ep 80x/90 in one for over a year, with an oil additive in it too without problems though.

Thanks folks, at least the snow's gone from up here, just a bl---y icy wind.--Cogs

wouldnt it just be easier to use just 1 oil in the box's but oooo no its land rover, have to confuse the issue  t/box, ep90, 77-380..atf borg atf o and auto box's you guessed it atf lol :P

It's worse than that, the later 4-speed auto box has a different ATF specified than the rest of the transmission, not forgetting the PAS either.
