while im still awake can anyone shed any light on this one?.....when ive started my 200 from cold it ticks over fine, but I have problems getting it to rev up for the first couple of minutes, then its fine but also it seems to be lacking in power the further up the rev range I go,its not cos its running on veg oil cos it did it on normal diesel, ive changed the diesel filter, could it be owt to do with the sedimenter at the back?it doesnt blow any smoke out (more than normal)
it pulls fine at low speeds but seems to be lacking at higher speeds,it doesnt use any oil or water and its not noisy

air flow ok?
if so...
injectors is where i would go next.

My 300 is numb as a boat horse for the first five minutes until it warms up on cold mornings. I just thought that was normal.

Check the fuel lift pump. could be on its way out.
wizard

its not airflow(changed the air filter),how do you check the lift pump?also changed the diesel filter again (had some s**t in it),just booked it in 4 the inner wings doing cos they are like a sieve on both sides,so bad that when i offroad all the mud ends up in the engine bay and not the wheel arch!!!!....£80 a side ok I suppose ....................I dont think it will be landrover next time!!!! :-({|=

On the side of the lift pump, there should be a lever. If the resistence is low, then the pump could be us.
You could try putting an electric pump in to see if its any better/to confirm that your lift pump is u/s.

For the low power problem: Check the intercooler & turbo pipes for holes, splits and delamination on the inside. Make sure you can hear/feel the turbo cutting in. It's also worth checking the small pipe that runs from the turbo to the top of the injector pump for splits, as this will stop the injector pump going to full fuel as your rev increase, it'll feel like the turbo isn't working!
Try cleaning the intercooler as well, that makes quite a difference if it's not been done for a while!
Starting problem, lift pump or injectors would be the first place I'd start (as suggested above).

checked the pipe from turbo, its ok,checked the lift pump, the lever on the side doesnt seem to doin much,it moves up and down but theres not much resistance at all, when you press the lever down is it supposed to come back up?it just seems to waggle around, taken the sedimenter off and was reasonably clean.......help

You may need to turn the engine a bit more as the pump operates on a cam. It may be in the depressed state.

Would do as Budgie says and check the intercooler, not just the pipes, take the element out and give it a good clean and flush out.
Did my intercooler last weekend as the motor was starting to feel tired.
Has made a proper difference . . . . . revs clean and pulls well again now.

ALL diesels are crap when cold as they rely on heat to ignite the fuel.
