Title: slipping gearbox

any ideas on a slipping auto gearbox
its in a rover 216 which has done 50k
drives but slips
is their any ajustments to make or servisable parts to renew
oil levels are ok

does it smell at all like the oil is burning or is the trans oil a very dark brown colour? may be the clutch plates slipping in the packs inside unless its a cvt transmission in those?

Whilst the oil level is ok, is the oil itself fresh ?
