make sure you get up on the down out towards the Needles, some breathtaking views up there.

Also the beaches on the Southern coastline are quite nice.

Find someplace to kip in Southampton when you get back and do the New Forest on Sunday, would be happy to give you a tour as was planning on taking the bikes out on sun. :)

Head for the south west at freshwater bay.  Take the A3055 eastbound(Military Road), pass Southdown road on your left and take the track just past it.  It goes up across the golf course (Tennyson Trail) and the views are spectacular!  I envy you - I love it there and have done all the off road routes on the island but you won't have time to do it all in one day so the one above shouldn't be missed!

By the way, if you're looking for grub, head to Arreton Barns on the A3056 in the middle of the island.  There is a great pub there which does fantastic food.

Have a good day. :D

Think I'd keep my head down if I was out there in a Land Rover    :?

DID YOU CALL????

Ok only part of the Tennyson Trail is closed and that is the part from Carisbrooke (newport) up to Brighstone down which in Trev's and my view is the best bit!! But as secretsquirrel said the bit from Brighstone to Freshwater has some fantastic views but watch out for LOW FLYing golf balls as you finish off by driving across a golf course.

I have checked out with the local council and they have assured me that all other routes are open and at the time they said the Tennyson was only closed on the first bit for 6 months so watch this space as they say.

You can see some piccies of the tennyson and the TREE (Trev's Favourite!) here - http://www.mellon.org.uk/html/tennyson_trail.html

Ohh and dont forget the fords!!

If i Can be of any help get in touch.

Regards

Paul

I now it's a bit late, But have a look on my web site, there is a slide show of a day out with the vectis land rover club (chris)
I heard that some 4x4 owners had 'run a mock' and upset some locals who were trying to get the byways closed.
john.

You can see some piccies of the tennyson and the TREE (Trev's Favourite!) here - http://www.mellon.org.uk/html/tennyson_trail.html The Video is mainly of the bit that has been closed but it also has the tree for you to  see, but if you look at the piccies you can see that it is still worth a trip for the view

No wonder they have closed it if you lot keep driving off the road and making mud holes

When we did the trail last summer it was dry (apart from the mist up on the hill) but from that video you can see why people say 4x4's damage the trail. Here's the slide show of our trip (i hope!):  http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/mudclub/page8.html
