Title: Paddocks Hahahahaha
Post by: Damonski on March 23, 2006, 16:18:08
I emailed Paddocks for a price on the rear part of the exhaust for the mpi, this is their response:

Hello Damian

Thank you for your enquiry. Unfortunately we are unable to help you. The exhaust for the MPI is only available from your local Land Rover main dealer. Sorry!!!

To their credit, at least they told you they couldn't supply it (and said were you could get one), rather than just ignore you

Try the exhaust dealers, if they stock em,  I imagine they would be cheaper than the main stealer

Buy a stainless system?

will be cheaper than dealer price for a mild steel one.

To be fair to all dealers Paddock and the rest only usually stock parts that have a short shelf life. IE they'll get sold quickly.

I think you'd have more chance getting rocking horse droppings than an MPi exhaust without paying heavy money.

Actually looking at the CD it looks the same rear as for a 300tdi

Can someone else confirm?

Certainly popping my head under the Mpi I can see the rear is from the rear box, up and over the axle and then joins with a clamp to are pipe exiting the middle section box.

Anyone got a 300tdi underneath photo handy ??

Likely as not it will be a smaller bore.  Fitting a TDi one might screw things up.

What kind of things are we talking about screwing up ?  :?

Ive just been out with calipers measuring the diameters and it does seem that its the same, but there is nothing to say that it hasnt been botched in the past.

Try asking Bosal. They manufacture most exhaust systems. They should be able to give a definative answer. I just googled them and found their home site plus some of their distributers

Bosal is interesting site, Definately looks like one for a Tdi.

Will try and call one of them to make sure.

What would the difference be between a tdi rear box and a Mpi/v8 rear box?

AIUI most of the rear box's function is resonance than actually acting as a silencer.

Well after a ring round, the Mpi exhaust differs from the tdi in diameter, the Tdi rear section fits over the exit from the middle silencer, whereas the Mpi fits inside the exit.  Tdi rear section £29 , Mpi rear section £79
