Title: Exhaust off...
Post by: Singlefin on March 27, 2006, 17:24:19
Put a new exhaust on t'other day. While I had the old one off, I thought... well, let's just fire her up, see what she really sounds like.

Thirty seconds later, every window in the street shut and I had a huuuuuge grin.

Sadly, SWMBO made me put the new exhaust on  :(

I tried that on my GS850 (old Suzuki) - first without the silencers, then without the downpipes either. SWMBO was decidedly unamused.  Still married me though :(

It's just a 2.25 diesel. Sounded like something satan himself would drive.

Maybe some sort of cherry bomb would be in order...

I had a cherry bomb on a 2.5 n/a diesel for a bit! made it even louder! :D It really roars when youre moving! (it would set off car alarms occasionally)

For a while (as my exhaust rotted away from the back!) I had it exiting just under the front passenger seat! which was incredibly loud - it pretty much works as a straight through amplified pipe!

I eventually took it off and went back to standard as the noise started getting to me, and the front section of the exhaust finally rotted away and i replaced the whole thing in one go.

i once ran a 3.5 carb'd v8 with no exhaust manifolds, from where i picked it up to my house.
oooh, did that sound nice
but after 3 miles i was deaf.
and the flames coming out of the exhaust ports when you reved it made me a tad worried

Im actually thinking of installing a cherry bomb on my 2 1/4 petrol.

Any body done this before?

That would really annoy the local chavs around here lol

Cheers Gavin

Do it, they sound pretty good :)

You can get some nice flames out of the exhaust too if you try!

my 3 ltr diesel has split the down pipe so it now only about 8 inches long and no silencers at all. think it sounds great but neighbours dont like it when i leave for work at 3.30am

Yes i have to admit i did at one point have a cherry bomb on a 2.25 petrol.

Yes it stuck out the side.

Yes i had to do something about the noise due to setting car alarms off as i went past.

Have gone to a standard system with a straight through back box, so much quieter but with the nice sound.
