Title: Steering UJ Problem
Post by: Big Rich on March 30, 2006, 22:30:40
Just got my disco back and the garage hasn't done the steering uj. Problem they have is they couldn't get the part.

Ment to be going on a trip this weekend so need it done.

If I get the part in the morning how easy is it to change? Has anyone done one before?

Probably too late for younow but it's easy to do, the worst thing is you often get the steering wheel on the p*ss as it's hard to keep the 2 shafts lined up during the dissmantling.  One pinch bolt in each half of the UJ then wriggle the joint up so that you can pull it off the steering box shaft first.  You may need to remove the bolts from the other UJ to allow enough travel along the splines to do this though.
