Title: Help with Steering Lock (LWB 109")
Post by: Northmead on April 01, 2006, 22:00:08
Hi all,

As anyone got any ideas on how to improve the steering lock on a series 2A LWB 109 station wagon.

As I am not able to do a 3 point turn, its more like a 20 point turn. Especially in our narrow westcountry roads. Any help will be appreciated.

Regards
Brian.

All I can suggest, if the steering locks are adjusted right, is a set off 8 spoke rims or similair, with a greater off set. Or maybe wheel spacers. Depends on your wallet. :D

I have the same chassis as you but with 900x16's . I fitted wheelspacers and reduced the lock from 53' to about 43' . no bearing problems yet . Its been twenty years ....... O my god  .... twenty years

With the Vehicle jacked up at the front check how much clearance you have on full lock at the front and rear of each wheel and the inner wing.

Ajust the stearing stops untill there is about 1cm gap.

Road test on full lock and listen for rubbing.
