can any body help?
got a 1992 vogue 2.5 td range rover, one of the warning lights stops on till the engine gets warm, its red, looks like a temp sign with a cog round it, does anybpdy know what it means , is it normal to stay on till warmed up? looked in manual but it does't seem to show it anywhere!

should it stay on till it gets warm, does it mean it needs more oil?

I find with one of these vehicles (4x4 that is), if you have no history on the motor, a service on it and check all oil levels underneath is a prudent thing to do (ie air, oil and fuel filter change), changing any axle/gearbox/transfer box/front hubs oils if they look a bit iffy

Might just be the switch is knackered or the wire is earthing. Unplug the wire to the sensor on the gearbox oil cooling rad (I think its on there) and see if the light goes out. If it does (while the gearbox is cool) then the switch is knackered. If its still on then the wire is shorting out somewhere on the body or chassis.
