It's just been reported that one of the French football players has failed a
drugs and alcohol test (Monday) after the match. If this is confirmed as
positive, under World Football Federation rules, paragraph 6 sub section 2e,
France will forfeit their 3 points and they'll be appointed to their
opponents, England. Scroll down for the full transcript of this report.

Carlsberg don't send emails, but if they did, they'd probably be the best
emails in the world!

Sorry Ed

The french result was even better 2-2 against Croatia.

Means the group leadership is still up for grabs all three can still qualify, France, England and Croatia.

The scoreline totally flattered England, who again did'nt play well. Are they going to do a past Germany, play rubbish throughout the tournment and win it  :?:

They will again have to play better to beat Croatia, although a draw may do, but they need to go into the match to win otherwise they will get beat.

no comfort at all, they should either ban the smegging sport or give it the same amount of coverage as any other sport.  That is to say "none at all"

I wish I'd put a bet on Sweden Denmark ending 2-2.

They more than likely stopped taking bets on the score of that game.

For those that don't watch the football. If Sweden and Denmark drew 2-2 then Italy (even with a win) couldn't qualify from their group.

Sweden were losing 2-1 when they scored to make it 2-2 with seconds to go.
Italy scored seconds later against Bulgaria to go 2-1 up.

The faces were a picture of delight when they scored and total devestation 10 seconds later when they found out Sweden had scored and Italy were out of the Championships.

Priceless

well, the reason's I reply are sort of three fold.

1)  As your friendly local moderator I tend to read all of the post to mud-club just to make sure you lot are playing by the rules.

2)  Unlike certain places (work) you lot don't tend to call me a mutant simply because I don't like football.  Granted you call me a mutant for other reasons  instead but hey ho...

3)  You can't get away from the blooming stuff, it's on *every* newspaper, website, tv channel etc etc  #-o

Be wary Daz.

You will be assimilated.

Seriously though everyone must have something they enjoy beside Off roading, wimmin, computers etc.

Personally I enjoy virtually every spectator sport from creeket (a la Geoff Boycott), Touring car, formula 1 (getting boring though these days I remember when they used to actually race each other), Footy, rugby (only the international stuff though). I used to love going to Speedway, stock car and Banger car racing.

I suppose footy becomes more interesting if/when you can recognise the skill and that there's more to it than kicking a pigs bladder round a field.

Ed
Title: England result
Post by: datalas on June 24, 2004, 19:10:13
I'm just not a fan of spectator sports,  playing them is one thing, but just watching people is boring to me regardless of whether it involves skill or not.

Besides, when we only have four channels why are we required to have three of them occupied with sport?  especially when two of them are the same stuffing sport

Ooh Richard harsh words there  :(

OK not everyones cup of tea, fair enough.

But surely it's good that the recent events in Portugal have united the country so much, thousands watching in cities across the country on big screens, millions more at home.

We should'nt be too quick to knock or mock such national pride and unity.

Or is that only set aside for millions of people dying in WAR  :?:

And now they've lost thousands of people will be getting drunk, fighting in the pubs - kicking the metaphorical '7Bells' out of each other & generally making other people suffer (walking home at 02:00 shouting & bawling)

Glad I'm not at work tonight - finished at 22:00, but back at 05:30

Then...... 4days off :D  :D

the trouble is that whilst they might have been united for the last two weeks they'll immediately revert to the same people they were before it all started, at best it's incredibly fickle.

what really bothers me is that everyone at work is going to be in a really really bad mood, they're going to be tempremental, argumentative and likely spend all day discussing how they were "robbed" on IRC.  So, basically they're gonna do sod all work.   Yet *somehow* this is acceptable because we lost a football game?  It's not like a relative has just died, it's only a game.  You don't see me moping around the office yelling "we was robbed" everytime I lose a trial, or get stuck at the weekend.

If you're not prepared to lose, you shouldn't even play.

(this is all IMHO of course, and in some ways an over generalisation, but hey ho as it were.  I guess I just don't understand the hysteria :? )
Title: England result
Post by: datalas on June 25, 2004, 08:28:13

England were knocked out of the cup by the Swiss.
It might as well have been Mike Myers refereeing the match.

He didn't have a clue. The Portuguese defender crippled Rooney and the ref gives a free kick to Portugal.
The goal that wasn't a goal. Well...
The Ref will never need to buy a meal in Portugal again after last night.
Fancy letting him know your opinion?

Mine you we do a football sheet at work, basically you have to predict how the season will go and who will win what. One of the questions is to name the first Prem team to beat the Gunners and judging by last season don't really know who that will be

Funny how the host nation and the Olympic host nation are both in the final  :?
