Title: DIY can be dangerous
Post by: karloss on June 18, 2004, 23:26:07
A word of warning to anyone thinking of maintaining their own Landrover.
Going laning tomorrow,so, like a good boy I decided to do the pre-flight checks, oil, water, etc. Decided to grease the propshaft uj's. This is the bit you need to be careful with. All the grease nipples are at different angles. This means you have to rotate the props in order to get the gun on. BE CAREFUL if your doing this. It's very painful, and extremely embarassing to be run over by your own vehicle whilst trying to roll it a little in order to rotate the props. I have the bruises and the p**s taking neighbour to prove it!!

You have been warned.

Maybe next time you will jack up one wheel on the front
turn the propshalf and grease it up then jack a rear wheel
up and do the same...

Could of been worse, You could of got your finger stuck in
the UJ...
