Im re-wiring my landy, which was a petrol and was converted to a diesel, i must admit im a bit vague when it comes to diesels... now is there such thing as a preheat relay. i.e. a relay which outputs a voltage for like 8 seconds then shuts off until next powerup?? Any ideas???

Yes there is and you can use one off some diesel cars/vans in a scrap yard,i used one off Renault Traffic before and Peugeot have one on the old 309/405 diesels, they are easy to fit and give a good 10 second or so timer.

can you remember where abouts on the 305/309 the relay lives??? knowing me i would grab the wrong relay!!!

You can't miss it,it's got a normal relay plug underneath and two external threaded connections one for a connection from the battery and the other goes to the heater plugs so it's quite big and they have them on Citreons as well.

Look for the makers name which should be G.CARTIER,theres one on ebay which is similar, just type in 'heater relay' on the search and look for Peugeot.
