Title: great frustration !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Post by: chuggaman on April 14, 2006, 21:22:36
i finally got round to putting a lower ratio box in my disco....

while the gearbox was out i changed the cluth and fork and all the seals(great forsight i thought)

put it all back together and the results were better than expected...

pulls like a train.....all the backlash is gone........even the lockers are responding better in high...

then.........park it up............look underneath..........transfer box oil leaking.....

it seems i may have damaged the front oilseal that connects with the gearbox mainshaft whilst putting the transfer box back on...

any tricks for this guys..................or is it box off again????

go underneath & look towards the back, behind the Gbox drain plug where the Gbox matesto the Tbox there is a circle,& if you were paying atention when u had the Tbox of theres a drain channel down from where the seal on the main shaft is,if u nick the seal it leaks down there & onto the floor, when you bolt them together its a good idea to put a dod of sealer in the channel so if it starts to leak it will contain the oil,

not the right way but it works
