Title: 200TDi Head gasket identification help
Post by: MTyrrell on April 15, 2006, 20:06:42
Was going to take the head off the 110 next week in an attempt to locate the cause of it's excessive oil consumption. I’m hoping it’s a blown gasket.

The question is how do I find out which head gasket I have, 1, 2 or three hole?
There is a tab that sticks out towards the back of the engine but there are no holes in it.

 It's a Disco 200TDi BTW.

Chances are it’s not an original gaskets at the history of the engine is unknown.

Cheers
Matt

when the head is off, turn the engine over so the pistons are at the top of their stroke and get a rule or something flat of some description and put it accross the piston's that are at the top of their stroke and measure with a feeler guages the petrusion of the piston from the block do it with every piston
write them down and take the max reading and look in the haynes destruction man and see what the guides are, it also tells you how to do this process any how
