ok Looking at taking out my perkins 3 ltr turbo diesel and puting back into it a nice carb v8 (not fuel injection dont want that hassel). So what do you lot think. As i dont do a lot of milage in the week just work and back once may be twice a week about 15 miles in total and only make long trips over 100 miles maybe once a month. The rr was a v8 and had the diesel put in so it wont take much to change it back. just want something easy to find parts for and i love the v8 sound
-
wack a V8 back in it yummmmmmmmmy :D if my engine eva packs up in me disco (touching wood now) i would consider putting a V8 in that
-
its is the classic engine, and you will enjoy the power as well.
-
and just the help you think this is why i want to change it

YES yes yes yes yes a'la Meg Ryan in When Harry Met Sally...... OH GOD YES
-
if it were a tdi then i would say leave it in, but as its one of those perkins then yes, go for it!

Sell the car and buy something else, your bound to do that sooner or later anyway,iv'e swapped engines before and found it's just a good way of wasting money, there are plenty of cheap Range Rovers about with 3.9 engines.Well that's what i would do anyway.

Yes thought of that but dont want the hassle of air suspension ecu's etc. Thats why i like my rr no flippen electrics to go wrong. But i will be puting a newer body on the chassic when i got some money and time. as most of the newer ones i have looked at, are very rusty underneath and mine is still solid
-
Or you could always buy a 90 :D
Kev
-
if simpicity is your thing you cant whack a series!!!! :D
-
been thinking of a 110 as i need the room and seats :D Just wrong time of the year to buy a new one unless anyone fancys a swap
-
if ya go for the v8 option be prepared to go round the puddles :D :D
-
Everyones shouting V8 but think about running costs, and dodging puddles.
I say TDi all the way.
-
only use it for green laning anyway so water not a big problem. Have been thinking of running costs and with the milage i do it wont be to bad.
But know were you are coming from with cost's against the diesel. Its just parts and ease of getting and fitting.

V8, you know you want to. If the car was originally petrol then I would, but changing a diesel to petrol is more difficult as petrol will go through hoses etc that diesel won't.
Ignore all the c**p about V8s and water

How wet do you need to get?
You're already p***ed off with the diesel and the LR TDi have problems with sudden imersion BTW, but look at the price of V8 spares!
Head gasket set (top end complete, EFi) less than £40
S/H engine less than £650
Starter, brand new, £65
And they don't get targetted by TGBs, they are however quiter, faster, smoother, lighter and more powerful
If running costs bug you, fit LPG.
