Title: Radiator muff type thingy
Post by: spy on April 20, 2006, 01:32:39
Does anyone block up the outside of their grille / rad before playing in really muddy water?  I only ask as every time I played in the muddy water at briercliffe in my s3 I seemed to overheat on the way home.  Good jetwash of the radiator and all was OK.  I was thinking of a peice of card board wrapped in tin foli dropped down the back of the grill could be worth a go as a cheap option.

Anyone got any better ideas?  What about using these pump up plant type sprays to clean the mud out.  I have seen people trying but not sure if it ever works?

Yes, i block the grille wi a rad muff.  I cant see a little pump wash thingy having the power to remove clay unless you do it straight away.  We were a good hour at stainby when i hit the mud baht the muff, it was caked and we were messing abiout with the grille off wiping and attacking wi a bottle wi a hole in the lid to try and get some pressure.  Never again. why not use te farmers pressure washer at briercliffe, he is a good bloke and doesn't mind, we used it to clean our Boots so we could go in the Pub.......

I use the OE rad muff thingy works quite well and as the 200Tdi over cools I keep it on most of the time and the temperature stays just below 1/2 way. still have to pressure wash the rad out every few months as the mud still gets in eventually.
