if you have a look at this thread you will see that ive been changing a swivel
http://forums.mud-club.com/viewtopic.php?t=22606
i took the rear wheel bearing off, i found out it was pretty knackered anyway. The shaft it sits on has some pretty bad scoring on it, (see pic)
will it have to be replaced and how much do they cost

Good luck

its the front axle if that makes any difference
-
my disco rear was the same and a genuine landrover stub axle was £75 mine was causing tyre scrubbing cos the previous owner left the damaged part on and the oil was gushing out onto the disc

If you leave it as it is you'll probably start munching the inner wheel bearings - BTDT
I've got it down as part number FTC57 - cheapest I could find was K Motors £64.37 inc. VAT and free delivery as order would be over £50.
You'll need FRC2310 locking plate and FTC3648 gasket. Total of £67.91 - see http://www.lrdirect.com
I've had good service off them recently and found them to be very competitive.
You'll need to ensure those part numbers are a match for your vehicle - they're based on it being an 89-94 model.
-
if it is the front one, you will also need the needle roller bearing that fits inside the stub axle that the drive shaft/cv joint runs in and they are very fine and a right bu££er to get out in one piece and undamaged
i got one from local stealers last july for about £40
but that was just the stub axle then you need
wheel bearings
tab washer
needle roller bearing
gasket
hope this helps a bit

The roller bearings were fitted to vehicles with chassis No: JA032850 onwards so Nick may not need them and he if he does then he can order FTC3154 which comes complete with the seal, bearing & bronze thrust washer already installed.

thanks for the help, i shall go and get the bits later
