When fitting a Winch Bumper how do you work out what springs/dampers to fit?
Lifted or Heavey Duty.?
Want to lift by an inch anyway.
This is what I'm hoping to Fit
-
are you gonna fit a winch aswell ??
if so then get the heaviest rating you can get,
have a look on the paddocks site, they detail different springs for different jobs
i got the higher rated ones, before i fitted the winch and bumper to mine the ride was pretty harsh, but since eith the extra weight up front the rides rather nice, and with a good lift aswell, around the 1 1/2 mark 8)

Thanks J.B. will be fitting a winch not sure which one yet, will check out paddocks tomorrow.

The way i did mine was, calculate the weight of the bumper, winch and cable. measure the existing height (any fixed point), load the front with weight (bags cement/sand), measure new front height, get springs to bring it back to original height and then add some for the new raised height required

If you speak to Scorpion(i dont know anyone else that has them on the shelf) they can give you the right spring weight straight away. The progressive springs give a far better ride than some of the alternatives.

Colin, like the bumper, what make is it? would like one like that, can you tell me were you had it from.

Hi Keith its a TJM (Australiain company) aluminium bull bar with a steel winch tray added,
I think it looks the dogs danglees 8) spoted it on Ebay last Thursday with 10 hours to go, not bad for £260.
TJM bumpers are aviliable here, try a company called Landrox (I think thats them.)
But you'll be lucky to get it in bare ali, when I spoke the orginal importers a cople of years ago at the peterbough show he said they only do them in Black now.
Have been seaching the web for ages to track one down.

Thanks Colin, off to search the web for that company / bumper.

Hi
TJM bumpers are available from www.overlandexpeditioncompany.com. Their site lists all the models that you can get and I believe most, if not all, are available ex-stock. You won't get an e-blag bargain though - a steel model (but looks the same) for the Disco 2 costs around £640 with the winch tray about another £100!
