Title: Backfiring.... no longer
Post by: Bluebottle on April 30, 2006, 20:57:33
Now I've got your attention!

My 3.5 EFI is misbehaving. it ticks over and drives at a constant speed perfectly happily but if you try and move the throttle suddenly it starts misfiring and occasionly lets off a backfire. Blipping the throttle settles it down again. It also doesn't like revving beyond 2700 or so, it misfires if you try it. I can't find anything obviously amiss under the bonnet, any clues would be welcome.

Sounds like could be air-flow meter fault or coil breaking down,
I'd try coil first, and do usual checks on ign system plugs leads etc

Air flow meter seems to be the culprit, that's the majority opinion of people I've asked.

Ok, thanks for the response, I'll have a good look later today.

This was the problem, it was earthing to the dizzy.
