1, The EP9 winch is bloody heavy (but that is probably true of them all)
2, The EP9 winch Does not fit a decreat mount on a discovery 2 unless you grind down the mount fixing bolt heads
3, Cutting the bumper (even a little) on a £15000 plus car will bring tears to your eyes
4, Solenoid boxes look CRAP!
5, A lump hammer is a realy versatile tool!
6, Thank god for brothers
But at the end of the day, the winch is in and all I need to do tomorrow is a little wiring alterations to get rid of the solenoid housing and just have the remote connector visible.
Pictures to follow

Thats why we have an over size double handed sledge at home, its also very handy when using lengths of scaffoding as tent pegs :D
Other useful tools include
WD40 - for when it won't move when it should
and
rip ties - for when it moves when it shouldn't
-
WD40 and ripties!
I used both, I admit the ripties are until I can wire it up today as I dont want the solenoid to scrape along the floor while dropping the wife off. I don't think that will do it much good.

At least if you mess up on the bumper cutting, its not a £15000+ bumper that needs to be replaced ;)
Probably less than the cost of the winch ;)
