The origanals are usually a small bit better than the Retreads but  they are also alot dearer.

bf goodrich at are the best hands down

but the colway at are great value money and when youre off road there is not that big of a difference .

They are also reasnoble on road .The Thread doesn,t seem to last as long

Alot of people on this site use the colways and they swear by them .

 Cheers

The difference in performance betwwen the new and re-treads(dis-regarding the treadwear issue) is not really noticable. Certainly not off the tarmac anyway. The big difference is in the price. I know which tyre I'd prefere to put a big rock through the side wall of and it's not any of the big name brands. I run the Colway AT's and they are very good in just about all conditions. If you want an impartial evaluation on how good thay are, ask Tony (welshas). Caught him wandering round my motor with a wheel brace and a glint in his eye the last time we went playing out!!

Just call me turn around Ted so as not to mix me up with Turn around Turtle.

Tyres are an "emotive" subject. I'll stick with these Technics Amazons. As Karl says. £38 and you don't have to worry about ripping them to shreds while off road.
I spoke to a trye dealer recently who says Technics were bought out by another comany. Dunno if that'll make it harder or easier to get hold of them.

Our Series 3 now has 4 x Kingpin Mudtrackers on it and at £37.50 fitted and balanced, who can complain??

It has run off the clock on these at over 95 mph (God Bless the Ford V6 ;))

I have had it stuck, but I DID deserve it...........

If you stand like catalogue man with your leg covering the writing, peeps think they are BFG MT's anyway!!

It's not stuck in the profile pic, I hasten to add, that's purely for effect...it was 10 minutes after that we needed some tread plate to cover the damage!!

Si

Only got stuck twice and neither time was down to the tyres. I recommend these if you are still unsure which way to go!!!

I had a moment of madness at last years LRO show at Peterborough and bought a set of BFG MT's. Fantastic tyre, but mighty pricey. It was slightly offset by the guy from the Netherlands who bought my old Trac Edges before I'd even left the Nene Valley stand!

Having said that, I have to agree with everything said previously. If you are using the car for serious competition, then you might make a different descision. But for mixed use, a good quality remould will work just fine.

I've been trying to get hold of some 750x16 remoulds but so far the rocking horse won't dump, anyone know where to go for them.
