Heard a noise outside about 9:55 this evening but thought it was next doors front door. Heard another noise and the missus went to take a look out of the window to find two scum bags stood by my disco. Lucky we disturbed em, they were off up the road and i couldnt keep up. Close tho, already opened both front doors, broke the steering lock and started on the barrel (which now wont even take a key). All my cowling is smashed.
Had to chop my wires to drive it to work cos they rounded the little screw to get the ignition switch off the barrel.
Close call, I usually chain my peddles to the steering wheel but had gone straight to the pub after briercliffe on sunday so I forgot :(
Anyone got a barrel and key, steering lock, cream plastics to sell? Need to get it back on the road asap.
keep em well locked people!

Sorry to hear of yet another attempted theft of a Disco :cry: . Wish i could help out with the barrel/key, but all ive got is a set of door barrels/keys to a defender :evil: .

Borrow a big dog and let it sleep in the disco and next time the little b*&^$%*& try and nick it they wont get very far with a dog attached to them. Sorry to hear about the damage they did to it
-
Wire the Disco to the mains next time.

Thats about the only thing i like about the usa you can shoot people on your property and get away with it 8)

In the USA you don't just get away with shooting the theiving little scrotes, you actually get paid for it. :twisted:
That's my kinda place - apart from it being full of Yanks!!!

We've had similar things go on our drive... once someone broke into the VW Golf we once had and took the stereo but left the rest of the car alone? :shock: The stereo wasn't even anything special or expensive either! All I can think is that they got disturbed during the night?
A few years later, someone else broke into our garage, took my father's mountain bike, and damaged his car in the process by snapping the ariel off on the way out. :(mad):

it makes my blood boil :x

i've got one of those disc-loc things that covers the whole steering wheel, cost me £100, but they are supposed to be one of the b est out there, and i get to sleep a little easier at night.
got and alarm and decent imobiliser aswell though...

i didn't think i'd have to worry about anuthimng like that coz i live out in the sticks (a bit) but apparently a "cat burgular" got nabbed (a few months ago) just down the road from us with enough metal work to start a small war on him. Makes you think doesn't it! :shock:
-
Hi All
Please don't think living in the sticks will prevent the b*****s, we live vry much in the sticks and had our caravan stolen off the drive the early hours of Thursday before Easter fully loaded ready to go away that morning. The thieves have no scruples.

They have no fear because the worst scenario is a slapped wrist. They make me sick, I would love 10 minutes in a room with them.
Will be like a fortress by the time its back on the road!

Really sorry to hear about your recent troubles. These people should be publically flogged! :evil:
Can I suggest a Snap Off steering wheel? I fitted one recently and haven't looked back. My Defender 90 is a soft top and therefore very vulnerable to theft/idiots. Alarms don't work that well on Landy soft tops (a bit flappy!) so the only option was stop them driving it.
Removing the wheel seemed the best prevention and deterent method available. To add to this I bought the entire thing (wheel, locking mech and boss) from Ebay for under £50 delivered!
If they can't drive it, they can't steal it! Well, combined with a Jetlock any way!
-
thats a good idea but 2 questions
1 are they legal on uk roads?
2 how does it stay on then?

Neal;
As far as I'm aware it's U.K. road legal. My insurance company are aware and it passed the last MOT :wink:
The wheel stays on using two heavy duty steel, spring loaded locking pins, with a third removable key operated locking pin. This means that you can either lock the wheel onto the column or take the wheel off, insert the keyed locking pin again, lock it, and leave it in the vehicle so that it can't be refitted without taking the pin out and you can go to the pub without taking your steering wheel (lets face it - that would be a bit odd!)
Dan;
Never mess with the Swedish RAT! 8)

if you do leave the steering wheel in the car, you could lock it up with one of those 'D' locks that mountainbikers use... mind you, if you've got the locking pin thing they cant refit it anyway.
i've had one landrover stolen, and fret about my current one.. the disc loc is good, but it doesn't stop people towing it away........ :(
