Title: Enjoying The Sun. Part 2
Post by: Bush Tucker Man on May 09, 2006, 14:15:23
After my posting the picture I took in Wakefield of the Morgan (http://forums.mud-club.com/viewtopic.php?t=23109) last week with the occupants enjoying the summer sun, I've been out doing just that this dinner-time.

I'd been into Castleford to pick some things up & hence onto FerryBridge when I sat by the River Aire to read my 'Yorkshire Post'[/i]
What a lovely little spot it is by John Carrs old bridge (http://community.webshots.com/photo/147158118/1150642400055906033VnbExF), which surprisingly until the mid 1960's (http://community.webshots.com/photo/157990182/1354404383055906033iBEhEl) still caried the booming traffic of the Great North Road.

I then 'pottered along' at 25-30MPH on the back roads through Sutton, Birkin & onto West Haddlesey (http://www.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi?client=public&X=455000.017541738&Y=426000.747542347&width=700&height=400&gride=456112.017541738&gridn=426666.747542347&srec=0&coordsys=gb&db=freegaz&addr1=&addr2=&addr3=&pc=&advanced=&local=&localinfosel=&kw=&inmap=&table=&ovtype=&keepicon=true&zm=0&scale=25000&right.x=2&right.y=145).
The fields were golden yellow, as seen below.
The best part of the entire journey?

Despite this road running parallell to the M62, I didn't see a single other vehicle (bar those parked in villages) for about 8miles.
That made it all worthwhile :D  :D  :D  :D  :D

Jumped back onto the M62 at Eggborough (jct 34) & wasjust leaving when a gorgeous Scania T-Cab came steaming past.
It'd be a nice sight loaded, as the cab markings of '150Tons bear witness to

I do like the T-cab and the volvo with the "nose" (can't remember what those are called), they look so much better than *normal* trucks.

T-Cabs are probably the best looking UK available trucks on the road full stop!

TheVolvos are the N10 & N12

I saw that black (Yeoman) N12 on Sunday, I'm wondering if it was at the same location??

Edit
I'll take a guess that it  was, I took this one below at the Scammell Gathering at Ackworth on Sunday

If I'm not much mistaken the T-Cab is owned by Roger Jones who also owns the Simmonite Sister's last Simmbugghini and competes in the British Off Road Championship.

Check out his profile  (http://www.offroadrally.com/profiles/roger_jones.htm).

That looks like the one I saw yesterday afternoon (yellow one) going northbound on the M1 coming brack from Bradford, mind you that was around 3-4 pm though, if it was the same one it must have been shifting depending on what time you snapped it

I first noticed it in my mirrors around FerryBridge.
I took the picture at 11:59, as I left the M62 at Pontefract which is jct32  (been heading westbound)

Start work at 4am and then every day when you drive into work you wont see another car for 8 miles. It is lovely knowing there wont be a single traffic jam the whole way into work

i'm on the road at 6:00 every morning (always plan to leave slightly earlier but hardly ever manage it :D) and even then there are loads less cars on the road, much nicer to drive then than during rush hour.

Sorry for resurrecting an old post, but I do believe that that's the T-Cab that features in the December issue of 'Trucking'[/i]

Can any of the drivers on here who may buy it confirm that??
