The flags are called DILAP (Dont I Look A Pratt)
-
wota so bad about showing a bit of pride in the george cross, the end of the day there is not enough of that
-
Being born on St George's Day I think we should show more pride in our country. The flag of St George hangs in my bar with pride.
I just wish that
a) It wasn't seen as racist to do so, and
b) It would happen for a better/more ongoing/heartfelt reason than 11 overpaid lager-louts mincing round a pitch.
Just my 2€ ;)

I'd be happy if there was a bank holiday to celebrate St Georges day
-
I'm all for St Georges day and celebrating it - its just those chuffin flags on cars are a pain when they snap in the outside lane and wallop the coach windscreen

I'll agree with the fact of not wanting to be seen as sympathetic to the f**tball mob, that's my worst fear
Sadly as we all know, our flag has essentially been hi-jacked by the nastier elelements like the NF & BNP

ur rite there it has been hi-jacked but then like elmo said in some towns or citys the council will get a cob on if u have em flying and say it may offend others well if it does offend anyone then wot u doin in ENGLAND!!!!!!!!!!!!

If the drivers were really patriotic, then it would by flying all the time (mine is, and on my avatar!), not just when the footy season was in full swing.
This country needs to be more patriotic.
At the Jubilee (2003?) I had a Union Jack flying from my TV aerial pole (some 25-30ft high). After the street party I left it there, as I was (and am) proud to see it. After a month I received a letter from the local council requesting that I take it down as it was causing distress for a few members of the local community.
It stayed put. Another month went by, and I received another letter, this time more demanding. I left it there. After 3 months I actually had a visit, which ended abruptly with a few harsh words, but the conclusion was if I don't take it down, I could face court action!
Until the weather took it that winter, it stayed put. I need another (better quality) one to put back up, it's been down for too long!
Horness
-
i would be more patriotic if the government weren't trying hard to destroy england as it was and just make it into little europe.

We need a "high five" emoticon. It's become the mongrel of Europe.

Being Patriotic cannot do any harm.
I am in Norway at the momnet and the Norwegian flag is all over the place. I certainly don't take offence, I thing that's good to see.
-
There's nothing wrong in showing a bit of pride for your National Flag, it's just wrong to put them on the outside of a moving car travelling at the National speed limit.
30 mph in town is one thing, but 60 or 70 mph just tears them apart and they can be extremely distracting as they wave all over the place.
-
I just wonder how many of them KNOW when St Georges Day is? And how many fly the flag then?

That's one thing I'd like to know as well.
I think Thrasher called it 'Selective Patriotism'
However. I bet most of them know when St Patricks Day is, as they'll use it as an excuse to get drunk.

I have to say that I agree with BTM, I have nothing against people being patriotic, but flying a flag, any flag from a car's window is plain stupid. And if it is in glorification of something like football, worse still.
What's wrong with putting a sticker on your backend? Or even painting the car (permanently, not just for the seasonal rush of patriotic fervor) with your country's colours?
